Golz-Kinsky Palace

this Sight was last updated on 2 Aug 02

A Rococo palace by Kilian Ignaz Ditezenhofer (who also designed the Church of St. Nicholas in Old Town Square). The Golz family sold it to Stepan Kinsky in 1768 and it was used by Klement Gottwald (Czech communist leader) to address a huge group of his party members in 1948 in an historic moment for Old Town Square. Franz Kafka's father also had a shop here at the turn of the 20th century.
It is now mainly used as a hall for art exhibitions.
