This quiet town is built around the famous Karlovy Vary hot springs, visited every year by thousands upon thousands of people who come to take the "drinking cure," mineral water which comes fresh from beneath the earth and is dispensed from many fountains around town. You can also book the full treatment and lie in one of the many spas, as is prescribed by Czech doctors for a wide range of ailments.
The historic cobblestone-lined layout of the town locates it in a small valley surrounded by lush green hills, a truly beautiful sight to behold while sipping coffee in one of the many cafes or shopping for souvenirs such as Bohemian crystal.
Located about an hour by car to the west of Prague, Karlovy Vary offers a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Prague as either a long day trip or a brief overnight visit.
This town is also known as Carlsbad.
